In January of this year, the mini theater "Shimokita-Ekimae-Cinema K2", which is directly connected to the southwest exit of "Shimokitazawa Station", was born as the newest movie theater in Tokyo. Now that the number of spectators has decreased due to the influence of the new coronavirus and the business environment of movie theaters has become severe, what do you think of opening a new mini theater in Shimokitazawa? We asked Takeshi Otaka of Motion Gallery Co., Ltd., one of the LLP (Incline LLP) IncLine (hereinafter referred to as Incline) that operates the museum. First of all, what kind of activities are Motion Gallery Co., Ltd. and Incline doing? "Motion Gallery Co., Ltd. has been operating the crowdfunding platform" MOTION GALLERY "since 2011. In the early stages of expression activities such as movies, music, publishing, cultural activities, and urban development," It is a service that "let's collect the money that is absolutely necessary from everyone". Business money such as investment and financing is collected in the business that is done for business, but cultural activities and contribution to the community are not always the maximum profit. Isn't it the purpose of becoming a company? Then, it is difficult to invest funds by investment and financing, and it is very difficult to take on new challenges and cultural challenges in Japan. Still, many people are happy when something is actually born. For example. I didn't get the money because I didn't follow the rules of hits such as the movie "Don't stop the camera!", But with crowdfunding, movie fans will say "it looks interesting" and invest in it. Things that weren't born in the flow of money actually stand up and are recognized for their value, and their values and methods are updated. Motion Gallery has been doing that for a long time. Incline was originally. The five LLP companies that were involved in the production of the movie "Happy Hour" directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi. All five companies are IT companies, but if you make an LLP and make a movie together, you can do something interesting. That's why I launched it. I'm doing creative activities such as producing the movie "Spy's Wife" and distributing "Chance and Imagination". " How did you get there? "Shimokitazawa Railroad Street is a redevelopment to create a more comfortable city by undergrounding the railroad track (between" Tohokuzawa Station "and" Setagaya-Daita Station "on the Odakyu Line) that was the" crossing without opening "in Shimokitazawa. Speaking of Shimokitazawa, in the past there was a redevelopment plan such as building a highway, building a skyscraper and putting in commercial facilities, and I hear that there was an opposition movement because it would lead to the destruction of Shimokitazawa's culture. However, this Shimokita Railroad Street has been developed so that the culture is inherited and developed according to the needs of the people in the city. Since Motion Gallery was involved in movie production and town planning, I received a consultation from Odakyu Electric Railway saying "I want to build a mini theater in Shimokita Railroad Street." I want to build a building where coffee, movies, work places, etc. are gathered in the southwest exit area of Shimokita Railway Street. Among them, he talked about wanting to do a mini theater, and he advised on consultations such as "whether a movie theater that makes people in the city happy can be established as a business" and "what should I do to design a screening", but there were twists and turns. I was asked "Would you like to run a movie theater?" And suggested "How about doing it in the framework of an Incline in which Motion Gallery also participates?" There was a need for a movie theater as a common land open to the city, and there was something in common with what I was doing as a motion gallery, so I wanted to make it a movie theater that could embody that.
