On the 15th, Japan Airlines (JAL) President Yuji Akasaka paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Takeshi Asayama of Amami City, Kagoshima Prefecture. He introduced a new project planned by JAL to promote sustainable development of the Amami archipelago while also emphasizing conservation of the natural environment. Mayor Asayama said, "Amami's economy circulates only when people come. It's a wonderful plan, and the city would like to cooperate." Starting from Yamato Village, the project is a "village project" that supports the establishment of a system for farming experiences such as tankan harvesting and nature conservation activities, and a small unmanned aircraft that transports relief supplies in the event of a disaster.
