[Nago] Akemi Higa (54), who runs the atelier "Chay" in Ohigashi, Nago City, is from Nakijin Village, and her own wire art is exhibited not only in Japan but also overseas such as Zurich, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. We are exhibiting at. Higa, who is based in Nago, said she "would be able to express small changes in things around us, such as the nature of Okinawa, as they are." She started wire art when Higa was in her twenties. Higa, who has been fond of paintings and designs since she was a child, sees the jewelry attached to the clothes she purchased and thinks of her own design, saying, "I want to do this a little more." It became so. In an attempt to shape the ideas that came to her mind, she bought wires and electric tools at a mass retailer in Nago City and began to imitate them. Her main business at that time was a temporary employee of the group. Higa, who was studying personal computers at Nago Commercial and Technical High School, was entrusted with the creation of a homepage (HP) by her place of employment. At that time, she was in the early days of the Internet, and only large companies had HP. "I was afraid to fail, so I started my own HP with a prototype," says Higa. She felt she needed something to post on her HP in 1996, so she scanned and posted her own wire accessories taken with her instant camera. The original wire jewelery inlaid with her natural stone gradually became a hot topic on the net, and she began to receive inquiries about purchases. Although all self-taught, her elaborate works with attention to detail have received high praise and will be introduced in magazines and other media. In 2005, a collaboration with artist Tatsuya Ishii was realized at the exhibition "Life is art 2005 Blue blue" (sponsored by Miken International, sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of San Marino) held in Tokyo. From 2016, he started to produce a wide range of art works, not just wire accessories. He received high praise when he sent photographs of his work to overseas exhibition organizers with the strong support of acquaintances exhibiting at overseas exhibitions. Every year since 2017, he has exhibited at art exhibitions in Hong Kong and Taiwan, in addition to "Art International He is Zurich". The report of Art International Zurich held in October 2009 said, "Many people gathered from the first day before Mr. Higa's work. Collectors, art galleries, art students, etc. are associated with delicate depictions from there. I felt the cultural background. " He has produced many works such as "Ocean Current" which is the image of the sea, "Fallen leaves" which is a stainless steel plate with dead branches inserted, and "The heart of the island (Ryukyu Kingdom)" where the beauty of various colors is eye-catching. Mr. Higa. He said, "It's a series of things I never imagined, but I'm grateful to the people and things that helped me. I want to continue to reflect the images that come to my mind in my work."
