"Homechigiri Drone Training School (Drone Division, Daito Motor Co., Ltd.)" (Ise City, Mie Prefecture, Representative Director: Koichi Kato) and Akafuku Co., Ltd. (Ise City, Mie Prefecture, Representative Director and President) : Katsuko Hamada), with the support of Mie Prefecture, Ise City, the Ise Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the cooperation of the community associations around the experiment venue, on February 22, 2022, the “Demonstration Experiment for Transporting Products Using Drones” will be held. We have implemented.

■ Purpose of this project
1. Verification of drone transportation for solving social issues in Corona
Ise City, Mie Prefecture, where the tourism industry is thriving, has been strongly affected by the coronavirus, which has been prevalent since 2020, and has been forced to review the method of providing products and services as well as the decrease in revenue due to the decrease in tourists.
Usage of drones as a "flying camera" is expanding, such as aerial photography and surveying inspections. A licensing system is expected to be introduced in the near future.
In this demonstration experiment, we verified the possibility of social implementation of drone transportation mainly from the following viewpoints.
(1) Demand for product delivery by drone
(2) Checking the communication environment during flight around the DID area
(3) Feedback on promotion of digital society in Mie Prefecture and Ise City
2. Understanding the risks to people living nearby and to stores
The take-off point of this experiment corresponds to a Densely Inhabited District (DID), and is almost a nationwide example of ``departing from the courtyard of a store in a tourist area and delivering products to the destination by automatic flight''. It is an attempt not to see
For this reason, we have taken the following measures to minimize the risk to local residents, shops, and tourists.
・Avoid unnecessary confusion on the day of the experiment by not disclosing it to the general public and not making it known in advance
・Pre- and post-explanation and procedure handling for the management section of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Mie Prefecture, and Ise City on the flight route
・Pre- and post-explanation to residents' associations around the flight route
・Automatic flight along a pre-set route and two pilots cooperating to continue visual flight
・Three observers confirmed pedestrian traffic on roads and bridges along the flight route・Shared with the pilot wirelessly, confirmed wind speed before flight

We will report the verification results for the following three verification points.
(1) Demand for product delivery by drone
We conducted interviews with Akafuku Co., Ltd., the product provider, the chairman of the neighboring community, and other related parties.
We have received many opinions that the number of visitors to tourist destinations has slowed down since Corona, and that it is necessary to review service provision methods and expand sales channels other than face-to-face sales.
Logistics companies that transport products ordered by mail order also have chronic problems such as soaring gasoline prices and a shortage of drivers. We believe that it will help solve the economic problems in Mie Prefecture's tourist destinations, especially
(2) Checking the communication environment during flight around the DID area
Two pilots were placed at the takeoff and landing points, and a D-RTK2 mobile unit was installed in front of the Akafuku store to correct GNSS positioning to improve the accuracy of automatic flight → landing.
The communication distance of the D-RTK2 unit is 2 km (with no obstacles or radio wave interference) according to the specifications, but trees and fences can be detected within a straight line distance of about 500 m between the takeoff point and the landing point. There were many obstacles such as these, and the connection between the D-RTK2 unit and the transmitter did not go well, and the coordinates of the landing point deviated by less than 2m.
(3) Feedback on promotion of digital society in Mie Prefecture and Ise City
As described in (2), there were hardware issues, but the pilots and observers worked together to safely complete the demonstration experiment and achieve the initial goal.
In addition, since we were able to conduct verification in an environment closer to daily life than in cases in other prefectures, we fed back the findings obtained this time to the digital society promotion project promoted by Mie Prefecture and Ise City, and level 4 (population We will promote the social implementation of drone transportation in line with the lifting of the ban on concentrated areas and flights beyond visual line of sight.
