DoCoMo Launches "Secure Flight Management Cloud", a Cloud Service for Drones-Drone Journal

On December 7, 2021, NTT DoCoMo (hereinafter, DoCoMo) announced that it will start offering the cloud service "Secure Flight Management Cloud" for the small aerial drone "SOTEN" developed by ACSL from the same day. The service will be sold as a set with SOTEN.

Drones, which are being used in various fields in Japan, are expected to be technologies with new possibilities, but in addition to ensuring flight safety, cyber security that addresses the risk of tampering with aircraft and data leakage. Is an important issue. The company participated in the research and development project "Safe and Secure Drone Infrastructure Technology Development" implemented by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) from 2020, and developed a cloud system in collaboration with SOTEN to prevent data leakage. Achieved prevention of withdrawal and resistance to hijacking of the aircraft.

The cloud service is operated integrally with the aircraft, and video / still image data taken by the drone can be decrypted only by immediately encrypting it inside the drone and uploading it to the cloud service. Therefore, even if the aircraft is dropped or lost, there is no need to worry about data leakage.

In addition, centralized management of information necessary for operations such as drone aircraft, pilots, and flight plans. The management screen can be accessed from the web and can be easily created, viewed and edited.

Assuming cooperation with the cloud service, shooting data (video / still images) will be encrypted and handled as follows.

(1) Immediately encrypt the shooting data inside the drone after shooting. (2) Record and save the shooting data as it is encrypted on the media. (3) In order to view and duplicate each data, it is necessary to decrypt it after uploading it on the cloud service.

With this mechanism, even if the aircraft is lost or illegally accessed, there is no need to worry about data leakage. By transferring the flight log to the cloud service with a simple operation from the control application provided with the aircraft, it is possible to effectively save the trail that is important as an operation record. In addition to shooting data and flight logs, information such as drone aircraft, pilots, and flight plans is centrally managed to prevent dissipation and duplication, and prevent security risks such as data loss and leakage. In addition, the management screen of the cloud service can be securely accessed from a web browser and can be easily created, viewed, and edited, which makes it possible to reduce operating costs.

The basic plan comes standard with SOTEN and can be used for 3 years from the date of purchase. A separate contract is required to continue using the same functions as the basic plan from the 4th year.

The optional plan S / L will be added to the basic plan to expand the number of registered members and the storage capacity of video / still image files shot with SOTEN for a fee.
