Use the hidden name function [Video Recording] of PowerPoint. It is included in the Recording tab, which you rarely click.
This feature is available in the latest PowerPoint 2021, as well as PowerPoint 2019/2016/2013 and Microsoft 365. You can record the specified range as a video and insert it into the slide as it is, and after inserting it, you can resize the video and trim unnecessary parts. You can also save it as an MP4 format file.
The range to be recorded as a video can be specified arbitrarily, and it can be used in a wide range of situations, such as creating a video explaining the operation of an in-house system or as a tool for recording a video conference. The operation itself is easy, so let's use it right away.

The [Screen Recording] function is different from the [Recording] function for recording a slide show. The specified "arbitrary range" is recorded as a movie as it is. The following is a video recording the operation of registering a web page in [Favorites].

Click [Screen Recording] in the [AutoPlay Media] group on the [Recording] tab to display the recording dock, specify the recording range, and set whether to record audio or shoot the mouse pointer. You can start recording. You can respecify the range as many times as you like before the start of recording. Also, the recording will be inserted into the slide as it is, so select a new slide.
After the recording starts, the dock is minimized and I'm a little confused about how to stop it. You can stop by pressing [Win] + [Shift] + [Q] keys, but you can also click the icon at the bottom right of the dock to pin it so that you can press the [Stop] button.
Click [Screen Recording] in the [AutoPlay Media] group on the [Recording] tab. You can also click Screen Recording in the Media group on the Insert tab. A recording dock appears at the top of your desktop. [Audio] is for recording, and [Pointer Recording] is a button for whether to move the mouse pointer. Display the window you want to record in advance. Click [Select Area] and specify the range you want to record. Click [Record] to start recording after the countdown. Here, we recorded the operation to add a web page to [Favorites]. To end the recording, press the [Win] + [Shift] + [Q] keys. The recorded video is automatically inserted into the slide.You can adjust the size with the handles at the four cornersThe video automatically inserted in the slide can be played as it is. If you want to embed a video as a slide element, just resize it with the handles at the four corners. If an extra area is reflected, you can crop it by "trimming" like a still image.
You can trim only the part you need by selecting the inserted video and clicking [Crop] on the [Video Format] tab.It ’s the same as a still image.It is also possible to reduce the length by removing the spare time at the start of shooting and the interval at the end of shooting. Use the [Crop Video] function to remove unnecessary parts before and after. Right-click on the video and select Trim.

To avoid this, use the [Export to Video] function.
Select a video. Click [Export to Video] on the [Recording] tab. The [Export] screen is displayed. Click [Create Video][Export] is a function to export slides as a video file. If you do not need the margin around the video, check the display size of the video, adjust the slide size, and make sure there is no margin before operating.
