Conducting flight demonstrations of unmanned drones for the realization of flying cars

In October 2021, Sumitomo Corporation, Japan Airlines (JAL), and Bell conducted an unmanned drone flight demonstration in the suburbs of Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
This demonstration is aimed at the flight demonstration experiment in Japan after next year. Specifically, using Bell's large drone APT, we conducted a flight performance survey assuming the transportation of medical and support supplies, and confirmed the operation and operability for domestic demonstration. At the same time, we also examined the business feasibility of utilizing large drones in Japan. Fort Worth is home to a thriving aviation industry, with its Old West townscape still intact. We were able to successfully complete the flight demonstration in a variety of weather conditions, including the dry heat typical of Texas, as well as heavy rain and freezing cold.
