12.6-inch Android tablet released on March 17
Prior to the release date on March 17, I had the opportunity to try the actual machine, so I would like to deliver the first impression.
The main specifications are Qualcomm Snapdragon 870, 8GB memory, 256GB storage, 12.6-inch display (2560 x 1600 dots / organic EL panel / AMOLED), etc., as shown in the specifications, we are looking for creators and high-end machines. It's a model for users.
Still, the size is about 285.6 (W) x 184.5 (D) x 5.6 (H) mm, and the weight is about 565 g, which is also a feature that it is not too big or too heavy.
The exterior is very modern with a narrow bezel. The alumite-treated surface is smooth to the touch and has a cool metallic feel, and is of high quality.
The housing is a unibody carved from an aluminum alloy block and has a very high rigidity.
The housing is a unibody carved from an aluminum alloy block, which is a bit different from the body made by casting or pressing. Just by touching the surface, you can feel that it is a high-density metal mass, and the rigidity is transmitted to your fingertips. The hardware that has been made more attractive as a product while eliminating waste is suitable for high-end models.
Android tablets have been released by various companies, but there are not many models that have such a beautiful design while securing a large work area of 12.6 inches. If you search while being aware of the three conditions of "Android", "some size", and "excellent design", you will surely be a candidate for purchase.
When you turn on the power, the first thing you will notice is the quality of the amazingly beautiful display. The 12.6-inch WQHD resolution (2560 x 1600 dots) is 240 ppi when converted to ppi, which is equivalent to a high-end smartphone.
Regarding the expression of color, it is not too vivid while having the deep contrast peculiar to organic EL. The brightness is 600 nits, and the refresh rate changes adaptively in the range of 60Hz to 120Hz. In addition, it also supports HDR10 + and DOLBY VISION.
As you can see in these specs, it is equipped with the highest quality panel for a tablet. The surprise of "Oh!" When you turn on the power for the first time and display the content is a part that you definitely want to experience on the actual machine.
Image combined with a keyboard with a stand cover
The digital pen 2 can be fixed to the back of the main unit with a magnet, but in that state, the stand cover can also be attached from above.
The stand on the back can be adjusted steplessly
If you wake it up and use it, you will feel like a laptop PC.
If you lay it down a lot, it will be easier to operate in combination with the stylus.
The stand cover has a "dent" in which the digital pen 2 fits. It is also possible to access the pen by raising only the part that hits the pen like a flap.
The cover can be attached while the pen is attracted to the back with a magnet.
You can access the pen by lifting only the part of the pen like a flap.
A state in which it is attracted only by a magnet without using a cover together
It is a tablet that is supposed to be combined with a stylus, and where to store the stylus (or stick it) is a part where each company's ingenuity can be seen, but it can be fixed to the back and the cover is from above. The style of being able to hang is interesting.
The feeling of typing on the keyboard is also good. When using it in combination with a keyboard, in most cases you will install it on your desk and type, but since the entire keyboard is made of sticky and highly rigid resin, try typing by placing it on your lap. But I didn't feel any stress.
The keystroke feeling of the keyboard is very good as a type integrated with the cover.
It is made of a hard resin while having elasticity.Even if you apply strong force, it will be deformed to bend and will not be greatly distorted.
Of course, it is inferior to the keystroke feeling of a general laptop, but as a cover type keyboard, it has achieved a considerably excellent keystroke feeling. The trackpad is responsive and very smooth. Not only is it smooth, but I also want to describe it as "very natural." The pointer follows the movement of the finger exactly as the aim is, "If you move this much at this speed, the pointer will move this much."
In image processing and video editing, this kind of detailed usability is directly linked to efficiency, so I think we made careful adjustments.
The stylus feels good to use and supports 4096 levels of pressure sensing, making it easy to express subtle "harai" like a real writing instrument. For the experiment, I dared to draw a simple illustration while touching the surface of the display, but no malfunction occurred.
I drew with my hand in contact with the display, but the input of the digital pen 2 was always prioritized and did not react to my hand at all.
Finally, I would like to touch on sound quality.
The
When I played the content, I felt that the sound pressure feeling that came close to the ears in the low range was well reproduced. In recent years, it has become common to see content that incorporates abundant low-pitched roaring sounds in both music and movies.
Users who normally enjoy watching movies and music using a tablet will be able to enjoy content with a higher level of sound quality with this unit. It also supports the sound engine "DOLBY ATMOS", so I would like to actively enjoy the supported content.
It has a total of four speakers, two on the top and bottom (left and right when turned sideways).
The speaker is made by JBL and realizes a high dynamic range of 125 dB.
High processing performance that is 200% improved compared to the previous model
