When using an iPhone, trivial things take time.
For example, the camera app always opens in the default photo mode, so you have to slide it to another mode, such as portrait mode or video mode.
Fortunately, you can speed up many basic tasks on your iPhone and save time. Here are some recommended tricks for shortening the working hours.
If you have an iPhone with iOS 14 or later, you can quickly go back to multiple pages by pressing and holding the button while browsing system apps such as "Settings".
For example, if you go through the iPhone settings page like "Settings"-> "General"-> "Keyboard"-> "Keyboard", you will see a "Back" button with "Keyboard" in the upper left corner of the screen.
If you press and hold this button, the page on the way to the current page will be displayed, so you can jump to that page by selecting the page you want to go to.
People who take portrait photos often may find it inefficient to open the Camera app and slide it into portrait mode (as well as other modes).
To do this quickly, open the Control Center and use the quick shortcuts.
Press and hold the camera icon from this menu to see other camera modes, and select one to jump to that mode immediately.
Also, if you press the volume control button with the camera app open, you can take a picture without pressing the shutter on the screen.
With the camera app open, press and hold the volume down button to start shooting the video immediately. Recording ends when you release the volume button.
This is called "QuickTake Video" and can be used with most iPhones released in the last few years (although it may not work on some older models).
Alternatively, press and hold the shutter button on the screen to start "Quick Take Video". If you want to continue recording even if you release the shutter button, slide the shutter button to the lock icon at the bottom right of the screen when recording starts.
If you're used to Face ID, you'll find it convenient to unlock your iPhone just by looking at it. However, if you are wearing a mask, you cannot use Face ID.
At that time, it's completely different if you have an Apple Watch. If you pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone, you can unlock your iPhone with Face ID even if you're wearing a mask.
Go to "Settings" → "Face ID and Passcode" and enter your iPhone passcode. You can take advantage of this feature by scrolling to the "Unlock on Apple Watch" section and enabling "Apple Watch".
Now, even if you're wearing a mask, Face ID will work normally on your iPhone as long as you have your Apple Watch on your wrist and it's unlocked.
Apple has added the ability to perform specific selected actions by tapping the back of the smartphone several times on the iOS 14 and later iPhone operating systems.
For example, you can double-tap the back to take a screenshot or open the Control Center. You can also assign this behavior to the execution of Siri shortcuts (automated routines).
This convenient function can be set by selecting "Settings" → "Accessibility" → "Touch" → "Back tap". Actions can also be assigned to double taps and triple taps, respectively.
When your iPhone's battery is 20% low, a pop-up will appear asking if you want to enable "low power mode".
In my case, the answer is always "yes", so tapping this button each time is a bit annoying.
So, to solve this problem, I set the "low power mode" to turn on automatically without tapping each time.
To do this, download Apple's "Shortcuts" app and open the "Automation" tab. Press the + button on the top right and select "Create Personal Automation".
This will automatically switch your iPhone to "low power mode".
Many iPhone app icons hide secrets that can save users a lot of time.
Press and hold the icons of various apps on the iPhone home screen to find out the secret.
Some apps, including major apps like "Messages," have quick access to frequently used features (for example, pinned chat).
Being able to master these shortcuts will definitely speed up your workflow.
The "Timer" app in the "Clock" app on the iPhone does its job well, but you tap too many times to set a custom timer for 12 minutes, for example.
However, if you open the control center and press and hold the timer, you can quickly set it to 12 minutes.
A slider will appear on the screen, so you can swipe up or down to set the time. You can use this feature to set a timer from 1 minute to 2 hours.
Another hack that uses the control center. This is an easy way to adjust the brightness of the flashlight.
Press and hold the flashlight icon in the control center to display the slider. Swipe up to brighten the flashlight and swipe down to darken it.
You know that you can select a frequency symbol by pressing and holding the 0 (zero) button on your iPhone keyboard.
